Top Baby Names of 2010 Released
The top 100 baby names for 2010 were just released from the U.S. Social Security Administration. According to Parent’s magazine, there is much consistency with the 2009 list among the top 10 though there are two new boy names: Anthony and Aiden.
Only one of MommyBeta's babies' names made the list (well, technically two, but it’s not the name the baby goes by) though I have a feeling all our names are on the rise.
Jacob and Isabella help their position in the #1 slot from 2009.
Top 10 girl names for 2010: Isabella, Sophia, Emma, Olivia, Ava, Emily, Abigail, Madison, Chloe, Mia
Top 10 boy names for 2010: Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Jayden, William, Alexander, Noah, Daniel, Aiden, Anthony

I love these lists because then you know which ones to stay away from! I thought when I named Lily, Lily five years ago it was not popular. Now there's 3 of them with the same name in her class -- all spelled differently though.
Thank God the name of my soon to be baby girl is not on the list. Just imagine being in the playground shouting out her name and 10 other children turn around. I'm definitely happy our name is not there. Going to keep it secret until the birth too and pray Victoria Beckham hasn't chosen our name either.
Ha! It is pretty funny how we run from popularity when it comes to names. I really do love Isabelle/a but didn't want to be another in the class. Christine, I love the name Lily and even considered it! We ended up going with a family name with a more modern nickname are still loving it. Patrick, smart move on not telling. We did and it took forever to find one that suited everyone...well most. :)
I didn't even check these lists when we had our son. I don't know how much it would have mattered if the name we chose was on the list. We had such a hard time finding a name that both my husband and I loved. So we likely would have stuck with the name even if it were one of the popular ones. I must admit though, I was kinda happy when I just entered my son's name into the search and it came up as not being in the top 1000 names for any year of birth in the last 11 years. I think we picked a good one:)
