Win it: What To Expect When You're Expecting

UPDATE: Congrats to Kori, Elsa, Lisa and Ruth for winning copies of What to Expect!

Authors Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel do an amazing job at providing a play-by-play guide of well, what to expect when you’re expecting. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with Reese, What to Expect When You’re Expecting was the first book I purchased and kept it by my side throughout my entire pregnancy.

The book covers everything an expectant mom needs to know - from preparing for pregnancy to birth to those first miraculous (and exhausting) weeks with a new baby. It is overflowing with tips, helpful hints, and humor.

I remember many nights sitting in bed (at like 8:30/9pm because that is all I could make it until) reading parts out loud to Josh. For example and I quote: “After I have an orgasm, my baby usually stops kicking for about half an hour. Does that mean that sex isn’t safe at this point in pregnancy?” (p. 291) Or “Can you blame it on your hormones? You bet. These [mood] swings may be more pronounced in the first trimester (when hormonal havoc is at its peak) and, in general, in women who ordinarily suffer from marked emotional ups and downs before their periods (it’s sort of like PMS pumped up).” (p. 162). So when I’d have one of my mood swings I’d look at Josh and say, “It’s sort of like PMS pumped up, it’s not my fault!”

There is ton of great information that just helped me understand what the heck was going on with my body and inside my body. And mostly, why I was such an emotional basket case! I remember there were things in the book that were briefly brought up, that I wouldn’t have thought about and I was able to do more research online.

There are three other books just like it including, What To Expect Before Your ExpectingWhat To Expect The First Year and What To Expect The Second Year.

We will be selecting four readers to win a book of their choice!

I like you guys on Facebook already....

I used to have the "what to expect the first year" book which I loaned out to somebody and am having trouble tracking it down... so it would be AWESOME to get another copy so I can check on (and obsess over) the monthly milestones that my daughter should be hitting. Would love to win!

I want the "What to Expect the First Year" to keep track of my baby's development and help me out as I start solid foods soon!

I will be a first time mom with many questions on the first year of my childs life! Sleep schedules, baby development ( when they should sit up, crawl, etc) and many more questions! I am full of questions on how to care for my baby. These books would help a lot. The What to Expect When You're Expecting helped me a lot, so I know that the first year book would be a huge help as well! I would love to win.

I'd like What to Expect the Second Year because I'd like advice on potty training.

As my baby turns one (sob!), I'd love advice on weaning and discipline.

I was wondering about exercises I could do while pregnant. I doubt the book will say, but is it safe to hula hoop? I just love hooping! What exercises are not safe? Also, I know that you're not supposed to use some acne medications while pregnant because of Vitamin A... yet, vitamin A is good for you and the baby and I'm a little confused as to if there is a difference or the amount you should be taking on a daily basis. I had a copy of this book 9 years ago while pregnant with my first son and I passed it down to a friend a few years later not thinking I may need it in the future. I would love to win this book!

What to expect when you're expecting was the only book I read on pregnancy. It answered a lot of my questions and the internet answered the ones the book didn't answer. It would be great to have "what to expect the first year" within arm's reach when baby girl arrives! Thanks for extending the deadline, I'd love to win!

I already liked you guys on FB!

I would love to win "What to Expect when You're Expecting". I have the all of the traditional first-time-mom questions. I'm sure this book can help. It's a classic! What should/shouldn't I eat, what to expect for each trimester, exercise, vitamins, etc etc.

And I just "liked" What To Expect on Facebook

The first book I purchased when I found out I was preggers was What to Expect. It was a well referenced book. What I most needed help with once my son arrived was breastfeeding. Left and right I had so many questions that I would've loved to have a reference book for. Currently -- and I'm not sure if it's covered in the "First Year" addition -- my son is currently on a nursing strike (he's 10mo) and I was not prepared for it. I didn't even know it had a name until I Googled it. Even if the books don't cover this particular topic, I'm sure there's a wealth of information I could glean on what to expect as I move into Year 2.

My little guy just turned 1. I used WTE for pregnancy and the first year, and it would be nice to see what the next book has to offer!

Right now, we're starting to get screaming protests and limp arms when we take him away from a no-no!
