Stylish, Practical Booster Seat: Review of the Svan Lyft
I mentioned previously that Nic has been eating at the table more often lately. We had been using his travel booster seat, but noticed that the more comfortable he got sitting at the table, the more he’d do this leaning thing that this booster just couldn’t withstand. He’d be practically horizontal by the end of dinner.
Luckily, I spotted a review of the Svan Lyft online and wrote to Scandinavian Child to see if they had one I could test out. In just a few days, it was waiting on my porch and ready to be installed. (Disclaimer: Yes, I received this product for free in order to test it.)
I installed the seat in a very similar way to my previous booster—one adjustable strap around the back of the chair, and one going around the bottom. The difference with this chair, and what makes it much more stable, are the hooks at the top. These prevent “the lean” that was happening in the other booster. You can also adjust the legs so that the chair can sit at different heights. Overall, installation probably took me about 5 minutes, and now that I know how it works, I could do it in 30 seconds.
Because my chairs have kind of a heart-shaped back and have padded seats, the hooks don’t fit quite snuggly when my son is not in the chair. However, with his weight bringing the chair down, they do a good job (but would be even better on a chair with a squarer back). I put the splat mat underneath to protect the fabric of the chair and it also makes for easy clean up.
Another thing that I like about the booster is that folds super flat and is really compact. It comes with its own little carrying bag and might even be able to usurp my inflatable booster as my travel chair of choice. Not to mention that this seat just looks SO MUCH better than the blue eyesore that I was using before. This booster is sleek and blends right in with the furniture. Nic even calls it his, “super cool new booster.”
My other favorite thing about this chair is how easy it is for Nic to climb up into it by himself. With my impending C-section, that will be a huge help. See him climb up below!
We'll be doing a giveaway of the Lyft here on MommyBeta soon, but if you need a new booster STAT, it retails for $80.
