Nearly 16 weeks in I’m up about 6 pounds. It’s probably time for me to start taking this weight gain more seriously. I really need to amp up my exercise routine and shy away from my comfort food cravings that I seem to get when pregnant. Why am I watching my weight or trying to? Well, I guess because I gained 50 lbs my last pregnancy! It was crazy – I just thought you gain what you gain and eat as much as you want. Not so. You actually don’t even require additional calories in your first trimester and only 300 additional calories a day in your 2nd and 3rd trimester. It does help that people say, “you’re eating for two.” But, you really aren’t.
I was lucky in my first pregnancy that I lost the baby weight and more but you can’t always count on that. This time around I’m aiming more for the 35 lb range. Any tips on keeping your pregnancy weight in check? I’m all ears!
