No Sleep 'Til Bedtime

I mourn the loss of the afternoon nap. It was that peaceful interlude when I could get some work done, fold some laundry, have alone time with the baby, or God forbid, sit down with Mad Men or a magazine for a few minutes. Alas, those times are gone. A blissful, surprise double nap!

Nic dropped his nap sometime after Christmas. It had been a long time in the making—an hour spent playing in bed before actually falling asleep, the occasional no-nap day—but now it’s the norm, not the exception. He goes strong all day long. ALL DAY LONG.

It’s fun having a lot of one-on-one play time with him, but it’s been a real struggle getting my work done, and as you may have noticed, blogging has taken a backseat. I miss the Interwebs, but mama’s got clients to service. (My husband says that doesn’t sound right. You know what I mean, right?)

And I admit it: Sometimes I just have to put on the Lorax. When I do that, there’s a 90% chance he’ll fall asleep while watching it—I have the pee-stained couch to prove it.

I love a good pee stained couch! (Except I'm pretty sure i peeded the couch when I was like 16, when you and mom were tickling me !) Wyatt still naps most days ..but then he wants to party like a rockstar in the middle of the night and I can't go to sleep because he's singing along to the Mickey Mose clubhouse song at 4am..good times! So I defiantly feel your pain, just another one of the great things about having little ones the same age so we can share all these ups and downs together , love u, sis

Love this post! I am in the same spot with my son who will be 3 next month. I also have a 1 month old. It's hard!!

Off topic, but is that the Britax B-Ready in your pic? How do you like it? I'm about to order one and hoping it will work for us. Maybe on a future podcast you can all discuss which double stroller(s) you use - I'd love to hear! Big fan of your podcast & blog, thanks for keeping it going!

I know! I miss naptimes too! My 4-year-old still goes in for "rest-time," which is only half an hour, and is probably more for me than it is for her!
